Sooo there is a solid connection between the Watcher and the other universe.
The little side show in this second episode of season 2 of Fringe(Fracture
) with Col. Gordon was kinda neat in that he was been hunting the watcher on his own.
why he felt the need to blow ppl up just because the guy had a briefcase full of picture of Walter is beyond me though. That was just dumb.
Stargate Universe SGU starts tonight October 2, 2009

Finally!
Stargate is back!!
After we lost Stargate Atlantis the universe has been a dark place with no Jaffar, Wraith or other races to watch week in and week out.
Now Stargate Universe is finally on – tonight.
Will this just be the Stargate version of Star Trek Voyager? Early trailers make it look a whole lot darker, but the similarities with Voyager cannot be overlooked.
A ship stranded far from home with a commander determined to bring them back. Let’s hope the show producers keep it fresh, give us some of our regular Stargate goodness and a whole lot of new stuff.
We can hardly wait.

second episode of flash forward was another great episode.
The little girl is the new hero of the show isn’t she?
Her final line in the episode – D Gibbons is a Bad Man – was just brilliant. It took everyone, including us by surprise. She is the key to understanding what’s going on.
And what was going on in the Dollhouse? Was that guy – Suspect 1 – part of the plot?
Nice pacing throughout, great characters and a deep plot. This show is a winner.
Let’s just hope that ABC doesn’t cancel this show.
ESA Exploring Pulsar Navigation October 1, 2009

the European Space Agency’s Ariadna initiative is now looking into the possibility of using millisecond pulsars, rotating neutron stars that spin faster than 40 revolutions per second as navigation beacons for starships. The pulsars apparently can be used as very accurate timing mechanisms.
Amazing isn’t it?
A thousand years ago ancient vessels navigated the oceans of Earth by starlight. A thousand years later, a slightly more advanced version of the system will be used to navigate to the stars themselves.

Good news for Warhammer 40,000 fans. A new movie is coming.
Yeaah it’s just a CGI based direct to DVD deal, but hey nothing wrong with that is there?
“Over the years, we have been approached again and again by all sorts of producers and film companies wanting to take our intellectual property to the screen. We have always believed that, in the right hands, the stories, themes and characters from the Warhammer 40,000 universe would lend themselves perfectly to the movie genre,”Erik Mogensen, Licensing and Acquired Rights Manager for Games Workshop, said in a statement. “We’re working closely with the talented team at Codex Pictures, who have an excellent understanding of the Warhammer 40,000 intellectual property and an inspired vision for the movie. We can’t wait to see our universe come to life on-screen.”
If they came make a full length of the quality that Warhammer 40 K game trailers have..we might have one heck of a movie.
Two-burn Maneuver Will Get Us to Mars Twice as Fast September 30, 2009

Interesting article on Wired today about an old SciFi idea that is new to Nasa.
The idea dates to 1929 and is called the two-burn maneuver. It basically relies on the premise that a faster moving object has more energy than a slower moving object.
So, if I was in a spaceship at a space station i near the moon, I’d first have to rocked back towards the Earth. Then I’d point the ship toward mars and get a gravity assist and punch the rockets again.
Gravity assist is a common NASA technique but combining it with additional thrust is something that isn’t common.

Chad Vader S2 Ep8: Bandito Beatdown
is a return to form for Chad Vader.
This is meaningless crazy nonsense at its best.
The marshmellow bandito is so stoooopid it’s funny. And who doesn’t want to see vader fight the pillsbury dough boy?
The big setup in this episode is that Randy the night shift manager is going to kill someone because his doll – baby cookie – is going to ask him too.
I wonder who it will be…
V will only have 4 episodes in 2009. ABC Fraks over SciFi fans, again September 29, 2009

ABC sure knows how to kill a good SciFi show before it even starts.
A report in Variety today has confirmed that ABC will only air four (4) episodes of V this year.
That means the show will start – on November 3rd – and then effectively die.
The show is supposed to start up again in March, but what the frak is the point?
Four episodes and then cut us off? WTF is ABC’s problem?
Yes i know the Olympics are in early 2010, but that doesn’t mean V shouldn’t be on. Why couldn’t there be more episodes this year?
To put on a show, only air 4 episode then give your audience ‘the finger’ is what ABC is doing. They are tell us, the Science Fiction loving public, that they don’t care, they’re just filling in time slots.
Star Wars Fate of the Jedi : Omen REVIEW – In One Word, the best yet! September 27, 2009

The first Fate of the Jedi book : Outcast – was a decent but not great book.
Omen on the other hand is a GREAT book. Both a great Star Wars book and a fine SciFi book too.
The most memorable bit of this book for me are the backstory elements from the Sith of Kesh. These are Sith that have been cut off from the rest of galaxy for millenia and are now venturing back out.
FINALLY REAL SITH.
No more of this – rule of 2 – crap. Now we’ve got thousands of Sith ready to go on the rampage and that’s cool.
The Ang-ti the new race of force users are also cool. Why does it always have to be light or dark side of the force anyways?
The pacing of this book is brilliant with nice ‘bite-sized’ scenes that flow well without any extra/useless narrative.
The other interesting character aspect is how the media is brought into this. I don’t recall the media – as in journalists – ever really playing a key role in any star wars book before. It’s an interesting angle for sure.
Why are all the Jedi going nuts? I don’t know. No doubt the publishers are going to continue to stretch that part of the storyline out and squeeze it for every dollar they can.
Yes, this book is a bit short and yes as a hardcover the price if waay to high. We couldn’t afford to buy this book – that’s why the review is so late – but thankfully our local library finally got it in.
Dollhouse Season 2 Vows : What Happened to Alpha? September 25, 2009

The first episode of season two doesn’t follow from the last episode of season one.
At the end of the last season we had Alpha on the run and Ballard had just come in. Now?
Is this all some conspiracy to get us to buy season one on DVD?
THAT SUX.
And how could Echo get married to Jamie Bamber (Apollo – and oh he was great wasn’t he?) so fast? She wasn’t a doll for him – so was she a doll for ballard for months? years? to get the bad guy to marry her?
Yes it’s cool to have Ballard on the inside.
Yes it’s weird that Whiskey is a nutcase and has this love/hate thing with Topher.
No it’s not cool that we don’t know what happened to Alpha unless to line Joss Whedon’s pockets with more money. It’s a frakkin recession out there man.
but hey if you want to just buy the missing 13th episode from Dollhouse Season 1 – Amazon has it for $1.99 Epitaph One

The second episode of Fringe Season 2 was another fine episode.
Sure we had another mutant thing – and yes there are too many mutants in Fringe overall – but still it was interesting.
The Faux Francis character is neat too, still getting instruction via the mirror and now instead of trying to kill Olivia he is befriending her.
What was so important that William Bell told Olivia in the parallel universe?
And whatever happened to discussions about The Pattern? In the beginning of the show that was the whole mystery. We’ve not heard much about it in a while..maybe Bell and the Pattern are related.

Flash Forward ‘s debut episode on ABC was pretty cool.
Actors we’re all great and the story was solid.
Why did they all flash? And why did they all Flash Forward to April 29, 2010 at 10 PM ??
No I haven’t read the book yet (Flashforward), though now i’m really tempted too. Though the book and the TV show apparently do not directly align with each other.
The other big questions at this early point are : Why 2 mins 17 seconds ?
I think the visualization of what would happen to our planet if everyone blanked out for 2 mins 17 seconds was amazing. First you think so what? right?
But with everyone on earth in cars, things moving about if you black out – chaos everyone that looked like a war zone.
How long this show will last..who knows..but for now at least I’m hooked.

Is it just us, or do you also thing that Season 2 of chad vader is dragging a bit?
Sure we love Chad, but this was kinda lame (watch for yourself below).
Long story short, Libby gets deported ..boohoo.
But we get a new villian the marshmellow bandito..yeaah it’s kinda lame too.
We need an emperor type or maybe a wookie or something funny and satirical tied to scifi
Battlestar Galactica : The Second Coming. The Best BSG Movie We’ve Never Seen September 18, 2009

Ron Moore’s re-imagined Battlestar Galactica was great show until the final episode, but still we wish for the original don’t we?
As it turns out Richard Hatch (the original Apollo) tried in 1999 to get a new SG series on the air that would maintain the original 1978 show’s canon and history.
He apparently had 30 minutes of final footage which has never been shown publicly. But there is also a 4 minute trailer that give us a taste of the greatness that it could have been.
Many of the original BSG actors are in this and the SFX aren’t too bad either. I wish that Hatch would release the final 30 minutes, I’d pay to see it and I’d bet millions of other fans would too.

The first episode of Fringe Season 2 was awesome wasn’t it?
First we think that Olivia is dead, then we get another new cast member.
Fringe division is shut down then it’s back.
And in between we get that awesome scene where the alien warrior is able to send messages across universes with the typewriter and the mirror.
neat stuff.
Agent Francis is now dead – a shame – but since the alien device is in Washington – the fake Francis is likely to be with us for a while. Sure makes for an interesting plot device doesn’t it?
I’m sooooooooooooo glad that Fringe is BACK!!

NO I don’t frakkin know why Starbuck is an Angel and yes the final episode of Battlestar Galactica SUCKED.
But we’re going to get a second chance. On October 27th the Battlestar Galactica movie The Plan is coming out on DVD. Originally it was first to be on TV, but now it’s not going to be broadcast until 2010.
Yes I’ve already pre-ordered by copy(Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
). I’m looking for redemption.
I’m looking for the awesomeness that was Battlestar Galactica to show up again.
I’m looking for the Evil Toasters to be Evil and not angels.
In some way this re-telling from the beginning reminds me of what happened with Babylon 5. First it was on TV and then the direct to video movies game out ()Battlestar Galactica: The Plan) and the movies were awesome, filling in all the blanks.
Will the Plan live up to our high expectations?
After the TOTAL FRAKKING DISASTER that was the BSG finale, so long as Starbuck isn’t an angel, this movie will be 10x better.

Star Tours is a classic Disney motion simulator ride…
But that’s just the prob isn’t it? It’s classic – it’s old and dated even more so than the Star Trek Experience was in Las Vegas.
After a magnificent run, Star Tours is now set to close in October of 2010. But within a year it will be replaced by Star Tours II
Not many details yet on the new ride, other than a slick podracer scene in the vid from Disney.
