We all know how Clark Kent’s story will end…
But is sure is taking aa loooooooooong time to get there.
Finally, Clark has decided that Clark Kent is the disguise, and he’s taken the glasses…HA! well that and the bumbling buffoon act too…
So when do does he bulk up and get the cape and the tights?
Fringe – Amanda Graystone is a SOUL vampire March 18, 2011

Caprica’s Amanda Graystone – aka actress Paula Malcomsom does a fine role playing another tortured sole in Fringe.
But how did she come back from the dead in the first place? And why was the bomb blast enough to kill her? Was it really her destiny to save everyone on the train?
a bit odd, but hey we loved it.
As for Olivia (ann Torv) doing the Leonard Nimoy William Bell voice — that’s kinda cool…but werid how she’s interested in Astrid.

Twin Destinies WAS another fine episode of SGU.
Yet another attempt by the crew to find a way to dial the 9th Chevron.
And YES Eli is the smartest man on that ship.
But what was up with Rush coming back from the future and still having the same ship in the same timeline?
Shouldn’t Destiny already have been destroyed in that timeline?
And how could there be two, Col Telfords? The timeline stuff just doesn’t make sense.
It was cool and weird how Col Telford got fried on the power conduit and overall, our team here at ShowMeSciFi.com really enjoyed this episode.
Is there a better SciFi show on TV today?

DIANA IS DEAD. (That’s how you kill your mother)
RYAN IS DEAD. (That’s how you kill your father)
What a massive turn of events.
And then the final massive twist
Donavan is back – leader of Project Aries – backed with Erika’s FBI friends, who we thought were going to remove Erika – nice twist…and great to see Donavan (now called Lars?)
Now that all of Earth has been blissed – is is time for a full out invasion of Earth with V’s fighting against the Project Aries?

Deliverance marks the midseason 2 debut of SGU and one of the final ten episode for this series that SyFy has so maliciously maligned by cancelling it pre-maturely.
This episode was nothing but end to end action…as the evil drone ships are outsmarted and then finally outrun…
BUT.
What happened to Chloe? Why did the aliens ‘cure’ her?
makes no sense at all. sure we don’t like the Chloe character at all, but the plot here is just nonsense.
Rush’s transformation to being kindler and gentler is also odd, but an interesting development for sure.
Where does the Destiny go from here? What can be done in only 9 more episodes?

A solid episode and now we now Anna’s secret weapon against the humans…
BLISS
Tyler sure looked happy didn’t he?
Perhaps even better is the fact that we FINALLY KNOW what happened to the invasion fleet we saw at the end of the first season…
They made it to Earth and they’ve been cloaked in orbit around Earth…500+ ships

Wow…where do we begin to review a comic as fantastic as Dark Horse’s Star Wars Legacy War #3?
After 52 issues, Morrigan Cade finally reveals herself to her son an Nyna Calixte – SHOCKING that after all this time, he had no idea about the double life…
Yet he still knew about his sister…
Andwhat was up with Darth Talon showing up with a carbonite slab?
COME ON? Don’t tell me that Cade couldn’t smell a trap..that just seems odd…then again..it’s a trap within a trap within a trap isn’t it?
Cade figured he outsmarted Krayt by making a stand, which as it turns is exactly what Krayt figured Cade would do…
Brilliant.
For the first time ever we have the Galactic Alliance, Roan Fel’s Empire, Krayt’s Empire and the Jedi in one place.WOW.
wE CAN hardly wait till next month to see the action unfold.

We haven’t been huge followers of Fantastic Four over the years…
But the fact that we knew that the series was ending got us interested (again) we picked up Fantastic Four with issue #584 and we’re glad we did.
The end of The Human Torch in #587 was sad – but is he really dead? we never actually see that..do we?
Then again in #588 we do see Anihilus with Johnny’s torn 4 jersey..
How about #588? has there ever been a better issue of Fantastic Four? This is an issue with few words…and lots of emotion.
The artwork is brilliant, conveying the depth, drama and emotion that words simply could not.
The final pages with Spiderman – and the recollection of his Uncle Ben – also brilliant.
Now we know that that is the end of Fantastic Four – but the beginning of FF ..
Will we buy FF#1 ?
YOU BET WE WILL.
This is a new version of a classic team, and hey Spiderman in white? We wonder how long that will last…

We’re not fans of FOX here.
They cancelled Firefly after all –
They also cancelled Sarah Connor Chronicles — though they had good reason..(the show sucked)
In May Fox is set to try their hand at SciFi again with Terra Nova.. Jason O’Mara from Life on Mars is a lead character ..and he’s a great actor so we’ve got our fingers crossed

So Erika fraks Hobbs..woohoo.
Why do these show always need to descend into gratuitous sex scenes…we dunno but hey.
on the actual plot angle who was killing the other candidate humans? was that a diana plot in motion?
And how about that DNA turbine …that was cool. So now that the V’s have all the human DNA what will they create? A new species?

Now we know that young Peter KNEW that he was from another universe where the Dodgers stayed in Brooklyn, no airplanes and there was a Red Lantern..
We also know that young Olivia knew young Peter too…and the great mystery…that she told Walternate when she crossed over (how did that happen?) that Peter was on the other side.
Amazing.
And hey..Bishop Dynamic? Does that mean there was no William Bell on the other side?

so apparently Ryan Nichols isn’t dead…
and the V’s need to breed with Humans so they can evolve?
ok that’s interesting…at least we’re not just ‘meat’ like the original V series…
Great to see Lisa go full on against her mother…but her time is almost done..and no doubt her Grandmother Diana will double cross her soon too.
AND did we understand correctly that Ryan’s daughter now has had her DNA mixed with the final Queen egg – so she’ll be the replacement for Lisa?
Surface Detail by Iain M. Banks – REVIEW – A solid Culture tale but a bit overwritten February 22, 2011
Posted by showmescifi in ShowMeSciFi.com.Tags: Falling Outside The Normal Moral Constraints, Intagliate, Lededje Y'breq
add a comment
Surface Detailis the newest Culture book by Iain M. Banks, but it’s got the usual elements that all Culture books tend to have…
The short review is that this is a really great read, but no it’s not the best Culture book ever written (we’re still partial to Consider Phelbas and Player of Games)
As is always the case with Culture books, Banks challenges us with new ideas and situations – and Surface Detail is no exception.
The big new ideas in this book are the Intagliate – those who are tattooed and then owned as a life debt if their families become indebted…then of course the deeper look into the different divisions of Contact, Quietus and Restoria (though both are just Special Circumstances fronts right?)
The basic plotline is similar to Matter in a way (which we recently reviewed) where there is a woman coming back to her home planet to settle a score with a murderer. Also as is the case with matter the not-quite equiv tech society is also trying to reach beyond it’s own limits which draws in a wider conflict.
The deeper discussion here is about the ‘Hells’ and what is Real and what isn’t which is kind of fun.
The plots and subplots which all coalesce in the end is also a standard Banks touch that Surface Detail employs.
Having the tattoo – the same thing thing that imprisoned our heroine Lededje – become the instrument of her tormentors death was a really great angle too.
The new Abominator class of ship was also really cool and the Falling Outside The Normal Moral Constraints is easily our fav Culture ship-type – irreverent and totally awesome as a whole Armada in an ellipsoid shape.
That said, this book could have been 100 pages fewer and it would have read better. Banks (lately) has a bad tendency to over-write and Surface Detail is definitely guilty of being (moderately over-written).
As always though the final page has a surprise and this one wasn’t quite as spectacular as some of our favorite Culture books – though it brought us right back to one of our all time favs – Use of Weapons (we still get chills when we think about the chair made of bones…).
Zakalwe ? REALLY?
We just didn’t see that coming at all. Not that it’s a major twist, but still a nice touch for Culture fans.

6 B SO .. all it took was some sappy old couple for Olivia to give in to Peter..kinda lame…
but was really neat to see where Walter draws the line…no ghosts!! ha …he believes in everything else…but no ghosts..
guess everyone has to draw the line somewhere..
cool though to see both side again..esp with 6 B at the end…but you would have thought that the activity would have alerted Fringe on the other side sooner..

FOX killed Firefly 7 years ago…but it’s now coming back..to cable .. in reruns.
Starting in March Firefly will be on the Science Channel – and will have some new content with Science Channel ppl explaining the science behind the show.
More interesting is the fact that Nathan Fillion – Capt Mal himself is still interested in Firefly and would return to do the show if he could.
“If I got $300 million from the California Lottery, the first thing I would do is buy the rights to Firefly, make it on my own, and distribute it on the Internet,” Fillion said in an interview.

That’s her (left), Adrianne Palicki the new Wonder Woman set of the upcoming reboot by NBC.
Apparently she’s best known for her role in Friday Night LIghts (no not a show we’ve ever seen). She was also in Aquaman — a very short lived (ie. only pilot that was on CW).
Will she live up to Linda Carter’s awesomeness?
Unlikely.
NBC doesn’t know how to reboot sh*t. They killed the Bionic Woman with boring plots and they’ll do the same with Wonder Woman.
If you want Wonder Woman – just buy the series – the original –Wonder Woman: The Complete Collection
In case you’ve never seen Adrianne Palicki in superhero action…here’s here (brief) appearance in Aquaman.

Was that an awesome episode or what?
Eli Cohen is dead.
Tyler’s Dad – dead
Ryan Nichols – dead
Erika Evans new leader of the combined Fifth Column.
Lisa meets Diana
And action, drama and bullets all over the place.
No we still haven’t seen the Lizards as being totally exposed for the vermin that they are — but that’s coming soon.
‘We have an army now and we’re going to rain hell on the V’s’
